The stance is mightier then the sword
Oh I love this.
Hey, thanks, it’s very old and stinky, but I had fun making it.
I'm vibin' with these visuals and the music. I will say the lipsync could use a bit of a smoother touch, but everything else is so appealingly done. Nice work.
Thanks and I agree with your critique. We were under a small budget and strict 1 month deadline so that's one area I couldn't finesse on (whoops lol)
Fantastic work. The sound design is sparse, but tasteful. and the visuals are well done. your voice actors are fantastic. You ever need help. feel free to reach out if you need some extra sound texture. :)
Thanks, and duly noted on that last bit! I'll keep that in mind.
I know so little about animation, this is exactly what I need to be less terrified of moving pictures.
YAAAY! I'll be making a tutorial dedicated to movement and additional animation tips down the road! :D
your animation looks pretty solid for what you are trying to accomplish, there are some moments that you spend too much time on (like some walking scenes) and others where you don't spend enough (like the symbiote monster throwing). Your sound effects could use a lot of help as they all sound like they're coming from completely different spaces. For example: I liked that you tried to use some foley for little cloth movements (like the shrug) but the sound was more dramatic than the motion itself. as for your music, it stops and goes from time to time. Mind you that's not a bad thing, as you can use stopped music for effect (like when you used that smash sound) but nothing sounds more jarring than a song that fades out in the middle, it tends to feel wrong. I really hope you do more though. you've got a solid start here.
Thanks so much for your thoughts! I will definitely keep these in mind for future projects! My audio editing skills need some serious work but these tips will definitely give me a starting point!
this has got a very animal crossing feel to it in a good way. Some of your walk animations could use adjustment in speed, but I'm really digging the motif and style of this. The music feels oddly distant, and there are a few moments of empty space that last a bit too long for what you're trying to accomplish emotionally. but for a class, this is excellent work. I'd love to see more segments in this style.
Thank you so much for such an in depth review! The feedback is very much appriciated!
I'm so curious where the audio is from. this looks fantastic, nice work!
Thank you, and it's from the animated series Sherlock Hound! (Apparently, it's the 5th episode, though I thought to believe it was the 2nd in the chronology.)
Boy I would really love music to be added to this!
I actually had Man of Steel OST - Hans Zimmer playing on YouTube the entire time I was making this. That sound track always gets my pumped.
the character designs are pretty good. I do love the character interactions. However, the sound designed needed a LOT more love. The proton pack felt pretty weak as well as the chandelier. but it's not enough to really be a detriment. next time you do one of these shorts, remember that the sound effects can make a world of difference selling your visuals.
Sound design definitely isn't quite my area of expertise, and during the time we had allotted for this assignment we were pretty expressly told to make that our lowest priority. However you're absolutely right; certain impact noises could have used a lot more umph to make them read better. It's something I definitely could use more practice with and I'll be giving it more care in the near future. Thanks so much for the critique!
